Open Cup & Sibling Rivalry

Sean versus Ian, OSA versus Reno 1868, brother versus brother. It’s set to be a clash of the highest intensity as Ian Russell, head coach of Reno 1868 FC conjures up a plan to beat the team his brother plays for, OSA FC. It’s bound to be an exciting match and will definitely be something to talk about at the next family gathering for these two! Who will be advancing in the Open Cup? Who knows more about soccer? Who will be chosen as the favorite son? At least one of these questions will be answered Wednesday night—join us at Starfire Sports at 7:30pm to find out first (tickets here). Best of luck to the both of you Sean and Ian (okay, maybe a little more luck to Sean)!

Sean Russell is an alumni of Garfield High School and Seattle Pacific University—he feels at home with OSA FC. His days leading up to now have been filled with glory in the NCAA tournament with SPU and some great moments with the Kitsap Pumas. Sean is still a top-level player, but is beginning to hone his skills as a coach with Seattle United. We’re excited to see what he has to offer both on and off the pitch!

As an alumni from University of Washington, Ian Russell began his professional career in the USL  with the Seattle Sounders in 1998. In 2000, he was drafted to the MLS by the San Jose Earthquakes and went on to help them win two MLS cups. After which he led a successful campaign as assistant coach, scout, and briefly as youth academy technical director.
